Appearing handcuffed in Bail Courtroom 104 this afternoon before Justice of the Peace Bruce Leaman is 32 year old Ashley Antoinette Dixon. Dixon is represented by local lawyer Gil Labine. The Crown Attorney is not consenting to her release.
Patrol officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart located on West Arthur Street just before 8:40 p.m. on March 12, 2018 to assist a loss prevention officer who had just been assaulted with a weapon.
The 20 year old male victim advised police he had a female in custody for theft when she pulled a knife out of her purse and swung it at him and running out of the store. The employee was not injured in this interaction.
The female suspect was located on Confederation Drive a short time later by patrol officers. She was taken into custody and escorted to the Balmoral Police Station.
Ashley Antoinette Dixon, 32 years old of Thunder Bay has been charged with Theft under $5000 and Assault with a Weapon.
Labine requests the matter be put over to Tuesday March 20, 2018 in Bail Court 104. Dixon remains in custody at the Thunder Bay Correctional Center until next week.
She has a lengthy criminal record of thievery, fraud and violence.
