A 24 year RIEL COUNCILLOR from the Northwest Angle 33 Indian Reserve is appearing by telephone this Sunday, March 18th, 2018 morning in Thunder Bay WASH (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) on aggravated assault charges.
Councillor was arrested last evening by Treaty Three Police for allegedly stabbing a man in the back with a knife at a house party.
Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio is behind the bench, Trevor Jukes is Crown Attorney and Joy Wakefield is Duty Counsel.
The court hears that the accused was allegedly assaulted after the alleged stabbing by friends of the victim. The victim is from a different Indian Reserve.
Court also hears that Councillor is coming to Thunder Bay this week for medical treatment.
He’s being released on recognizance with conditions. He must not contact the victim.
