On Sunday, March 18, 2018, just before 4:00 a.m. the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a male unlawfully entering a vehicle in the Valley Drive area of the City of Kenora. The complainant confronted the subject and kept him at the scene until police arrived shortly after.
Police responded and 23-year-old Brandon BANNING of Kenora was arrested for Trespass by Night contrary to section 177 of the Criminal Code. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The OPP want to remind the public that these actions are crimes of opportunity. Leaving vehicles unlocked and valuables in sight, place a target on your vehicle and property.
