On Monday March 19, 2018 at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin-Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin (UCCM) Anishnaabe Police, the Wikwemikong Tribal Police and the North East Region OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Blake Street in Little Current, Ontario.
Officers seized a quantity of suspected marijuana and suspected cocaine. In addition a quantity of suspected counterfeit currency was seized.
As a result of the investigation, Patrick STEPHENS, age 29, of Little Current, Ontario has been charged with:
- Possessing Counterfeit Money contrary to section 450(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Under 3 kg contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Court of Justice in Gore Bay, Ontario on April 17, 2018.
