A 37 year old EVERETT LAND of Rat Portage Indian Reserve 38A appeared via telephone in Thunder Bay Bail Court from Treaty Three Police Station in Kenora this morning Sunday March 25,2018 after being arrested last evening in Rat Portage for more breaches of recognizance (bail) and a breach of probation.
LAND is accused of contacting a female victim he has repeatedly assaulted despite being under 2 different court orders not to contact (probation and bail)
Her Worship Justice of the Peace Denette Maslach is presiding along with Her Worship Zelda Kitcheekeesik.
Crown Attorney Trevor Jukes is present and Duty Counsel is Andrew Desmoulin who is accompanied by 2 Lakehead University Law students.
Crown Attorney Jukes tells the court that Everett Land has a lengthy and unenviable criminal record. He’s not agreeing to the release of Land.
Court hears that Land is already facing charges for assaulting the same female on February 20 & February 27, 2018.
He has previous convictions of assaulting the same female. His most recent conviction was October 20,2017. He received probation again and was ordered to stay away and have no contact with this female again.
