Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by the Northwest Region Crime Unit, the Kenora Community Street Crime Unit, Treaty Three Police and Lac Seul Police Service have charged two youths for Cruelty to Animals.
On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, members of the Kenora OPP received information about a video circulating that showed a male suspect killing a cat while a female suspect took the video.
An investigation was commenced and two Kenora youths were identified, a 14-year-old female and a 13-year-old male. Warrants were issued for the youths for the offence of Cruelty to Animals contrary to section 445.1(1)(a) to the Criminal Code.
The female youth was arrested on April 6, 2018, and is to appear in Kenora Court on May 15, 2018, to answer to the charge.
The male youth was arrested on April 17, 2018, and is to appear in Kenora Court on May 1, 2018, to answer to the charge.
The names of the youths are withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
