On April 19, 2018 at approximately 5:30 p.m., members from the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) received reports of a male in possession of a firearm in a residence.
Officers responded which resulted in a 51-year-old male being wounded. The male was transported to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the altercation.
NAPS has requested assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the investigation is continuing under direction of Detective Staff Sergeant Matt Watson of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
Members of the North East Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services will be attending to assist with the investigation.
