ALLEGED ASSAULT & UNLAWFUL CONFINEMENT IN PIKANGIKUM
A 35-year-old PRESTON NEIL QUILL appeared by telephone in W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today, Sunday, April 22, 2018, from the Pikangikum OPP Station.
Her Worship, Denette Maslach is presiding. Provincial Crown Sheri Frenette is here along with Duty Counsel Lianne Roberge.
The court hears that QUILL was arrested by OPP last evening on Pikangikum Indian Reserve #14.
He’s alleged to have unlawfully confined a woman from April 15, 2018, to April 21, 2018
He’s also alleged to have assaulted the same woman on April 15 & April 21.
QUILL was on bail conditions from an assault with a weapon allegation from August 2017 and not supposed to be outside his home with alcohol in his body. OPP allege he was intoxicated last night when arrested. He charged with breach of bail conditions
REVERSE ONUS SITUATION.
The Crown is not consenting to his release. He is being flown to Kenora today to appear in Bail Court tomorrow to show why he should be released. His next court date for his assault with a weapon charge was June 8, 2018
