AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON TRILLIUM WAY IN THUNDER BAY BY 3 PEOPLE RESULTS IN VICTIM WITH BROKEN JAW AND HEARING PROBLEMS
TWO ALLEGED PERPETRATORS ARRESTED.
JAMES MEEKIS HAS AN ARREST WARRANT AND IS WANTED BY TBPS.
A 23 year old MELODINA CARLEEN WESLEY appeared by video in Bail Court today, Monday April 23,2018 from the Thunder Bay Police Station. Her Worship, Jennifer Neill is presiding. Provincial Crown Mary Ann Mackett is here along with Duty Counsel Aranka Golphy
Court hears allegations that WESLEY was with 2 other co-accused males last evening unlawfully in a dwelling house on Trillium Way. The 3 individuals allegedly committed an aggravated assault on a female who was home alone breaking her jaw while kicking her in the head and also causing hearing problems. Wesley was also supposed to be in the John Howard Bail Supervision Program but she’s alleged to have stopped reporting in. She’s facing a breach of bail charge for that.
The court hears that George Joseph is her lawyer but he isn’t present.
WESLEY WAS ARRESTED WITH HER BOYFRIEND 28 YEAR OLD STEWART SUGANAQUEB.
THE COURT HEARS THAT JAMES MEEKIS WAS ALSO ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN INVOLVED. HE IS CURRENTLY WANTED BY POLICE ON AN ARREST WARRANT.
WESLEY has previous charges she’s been released on bail for.
On April 13, 2018, she’s alleged to have entered that same dwelling house unlawfully and caused assault with bodily harm on the same female victim. Also charged with breach of undertaking for consuming alcohol. She was released to John Howard Bail Supervision.
On January 25, 2018 Wesley is alleged to have assaulted the same person and being unlawfully in a dwelling house. She was released on an undertaking.
Crown Attorney Mackett is not consenting to release Wesley due to the repetitive nature of the allegations and the increased level of violence on the same victim.
WESLEY is being sent to Thunder Bay Correctional Centre. She’ll appear by video again on Wednesday April 25,2018 in Courtroom 104. She’s ordered not to have any contact with her victim, SUGANAQUEB or JAMES MEEKIS.
STEWART SUGANAQUEB is up next by video. The court hears that he is allegedly involved with Wesley in the attack last evening on the female victim at Trillium Way. He’s facing charges of aggravated assault and unlawfully in a dwelling house.
The Crown Attorney is not consenting to his release either. He’s being sent to the Thunder Bay Jail and will appear by video on April 25,2018. He’s also ordered not to contact victim or co-accused.
JAMES MEEKIS REMAINS WANTED BY TBPS. THERE IS AN ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR HIM.
ALL THREE HAVE CRIMINAL RECORDS.
