Alexander (Sandy) Zaitzeff plead guilty to a list of charges earlier today, which included invitation to sexual touching and assault.
Justice Joseph Wilson sentenced Zaitzeff this afternoon in Thunder Bay. Defence counsel Scott Hutchinson recommended 12 months probation, meanwhile Crown Attorney Marc Huneault was seeking 18 to 24 months probation.
The charge of invitiation to sexual touching has a mandatory minimum sentence of 90 days in custody, but Zaitzeff has 6 months of pre trial custody credit and 2 additional months credit for his 13 months of highly restrictive bail conditions, which counted towards that time. The crown and defence were not seeking more time in jail. Zaitzeff recieved $950 in fines.
Zaitzeff’s conditions include:
- No contact or communication with the victim
- fine for the firearm
- Abstain from alcohol
- Provide a DNA sample
- 10 years sex offender registry
- Follow probation officer’s order
