Anonymous Submission #0014 – Thunder Bay Housing

There was a post on the site from a member showing the garbage scattered around the 288 Windsor Area. I am trying to recall the details because I could not find the original post so I apologize for any incorrect statements. I believe it referred to waiting for Thunder Bay Housing to clean up the mess. There was also a comment that someone had been contacted by Christie Strey (I think I have the name right) from Housing to remove either the post or their comments.

The Annual Fire Evacuation Drill and Tenant Meeting at Andras Court happened yesterday (Apr. 27). This meeting consisted of basically a variety of people from Housing telling the tenants all the wonderful things Housing has done and (supposedly) will be doing in the future.

I should point out there were under 15 tenants (this would be from the two apartment buildings that comprise Andras Court) in attendance for this bullshit meeting. Not even the bribe of free coffee/tea and goodies could bring out more tenants.

This was also supposed to be for tenants to voice their concerns but Housing would not shut up. People did ask questions and make comments during this meeting. I can comment that not one tenant fell to their knees, crying out their thanks to Housing for spending rent money, city money and government money on long-awaited improvements to 40-year-old buildings.

Facebook (the exact term) was even brought up. This was in reference to disparaging comments on โ€œFacebookโ€ about garbage being strewn around on one of their properties and Housing having to clean it up. Congrats to โ€œFacebookโ€ (The Real Concerned Citizens) for the honourable mention at the meeting. Housing was not happy about making โ€œFacebookโ€. You will not be receiving any congrats from them!!!

I can also comment that with the 100 hi-def cameras we have in the building, Housing can now find out who left the two (gasp) shopping carts in the hallways (today and in the future) and they can be fined approx. $390 because this is a fire code infraction. Housing can also find out who is not putting their oversize garbage (that wonโ€™t fit down the garbage chute) in the proper room and putting it in the outside area where Housing puts the garbage on pick-up days. Yee gods, the cameras can also see whose dog peed in the hallway (yes this was also mentioned by Housing). We were also informed that these cameras have a โ€œfantasticโ€ view of each and every tenant door (creepy statement).
