A group of people were enjoying the sunset views next to the Kaministiquia River near Island drive, when an unexpected turn of events unfolded before their eyes.
There was a few deer on the ice, walking around and enjoying the sunset as well. Then one of the deer must have wandered over to some thin ice. Then suddenly and without warning, a single deer fell through the ice. This caused real concern for the citizens watching.
Immediately one of the onlookers pulled out their phone and called 911 in an attempt to save the animals life.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue showed up on the scene, and went out on the ice, but the deer panicked and ended up swimming to the other side of the Kaministiquia River.
The deer made it safely across the Kaministtiquia River, although it may have a chilly evening, being soaking wet.
