MAN IS ORDERED RELEASED IMMEDIATELY WITH NO CONDITIONS.
A 20-year-old KEITH SLIPPERJACK appeared by video in W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from the TBPS BALMORAL Station.
Her Worship, Denette Maslach is presiding. Provincial Katrina Van Kessel is here along with Duty Counsel Lianne Roberge.
SLIPPERJACK was arrested last evening for allegedly being in breach of his recognizance. He was originally charged with assault on the Fort Hope Indian Reserve 64.
But there is some confusion in the documentation provided and on the CPIC & NICHE (computer programs for searching files)
SLIPPERJACK has poor memory and doesn’t remember what happened really. He knows he’s supposed to be on a plane to Fort Hope today.
Her Worship is inquiring with the Crown about the charges, but the Court Clerk gets to the truth quickly.
All of SLIPPERJACK’S matters were disposed of in late February. Someone forgot to update Slipperjack’s file. He has no current charges.
The Justice of the Peace recognizes that SLIPPERJACK is being unlawfully detained and orders him released immediately.
