(THUNDER BAY, ON) โ€“ Multiple tips have come in to TRCCTB about a possible shooting that occurred near newfies.

Witnesses on the scene told TRCCTB.COM in an interview that someone was shot in the head, in an execution style shooting.

One man was sent to hospital with a very life threatening injury. His current condition is unknown.

Newfies is closed and the street is taped off and closed in all 3 directions.

The roadway in front of Newfies is open to traffic now. We have heard from multiple sources that there are gang ties to the shooting, and that this wasnโ€™t a random shooting. The victim was targeted for reasons unclear at this time.

We have been contacted by a highly reliable source, that is telling us that the bullet grazed the victims head, and the suspected calibre of bullet was a .22. This information, although highly reliable, is unconfirmed at this point.

We have been told by multiple sources that the person who was shot, is not co-operating with authorities and is keeping to themselves.

Police release media release confirming what we already know. Below is their release.

Media Release: South Side Shooting

TBPS officers attended to the corner of Victoria Avenue and Brodie Street last evening at 9:45 p.m. on a report of an assault that had occurred. When officers arrived they discovered that a male had been shot while he stood outside Newfieโ€™s Pub on the sidewalk with a number of other people.

The 28 year old male was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries and has since left the hospital. Injuries are consistent with shotgun pellets.

The crime scene was processed by Scenes of Crime and Traffic officers last evening and the area has been released by police.

Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Branch are continuing the investigation.

Below is a picture of the damage the gun left. This is not consistent with a โ€œpellet gunโ€ as many are confused. This damage is consistent with a shotgun.
