(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at approximately 2:05pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a traffic complaint on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah.
A REAL concerned citizen contacted OPP advising of an erratic driver who had ended up in the ditch on Highway 11/17 near the Shuniah landfill.
Officers attended the scene and determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further tests.
A 65 year old male, from Toronto, ON, was arrested and charged with:
-Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
-Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 26, 2018 to answer to the charges.
