(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A large grass fire that was raging out Arthur street by 25th side road caused some issues for travellers headed down the roadway.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the fire, and sounded a second alarm shortly after arriving, which summons more firefighters and equipment to the scene.
Multiple pumper trucks, a 4×4 with a large water tank, a helicopter dropping water, and over a kilometre of fire hose was utilized during the fire suppression efforts.
Joint efforts between the OPP and Thunder Bay Police Service blocked off a portion of Arthur Street from 20th sideroad to Mapleward, to allow the water hose to cross the street from the hydrant to the scene of the fire.
The Ministry Of Natural Resources And Forestry was called in to assist in the fire extinguishing efforts.
Pumper 6, 4 and 7 were on the scene battling the blaze.
The scene was cleared at 8:22pm.
