(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Shane Judge has said that he will enter his hat into the mayoral race on Monday.
Judge believes that city spending is out of control, and that as mayor, he will make spending cuts.
Judge claims that he is concerned and disappointed about the cities record debt. He considers our reserve funds risky, and wants to change things.
He would look for between 17 and 18 million dollars in savings to pay down debt and build up reserve funds. Judge believes we are entering rough times, and that his strategy will help.
The potential mayor believes that city council can be reduced to 9 councillors, and eliminate the ward system.
He states that because councillors don’t need to live in the wards they are running in, that the system should be eliminated.
Preciously, council turned down a motion which would have consulted the public for their input on the type and number of councillors in city hall.
In 2014 Judge ran for mayor, placing third.
