(DRYDEN, ON) – Dryden Detachment members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a fire on McLean Road, Britton Township (west of Dryden) on the 4th of May 2018 at approximately 3:20 p.m.. The Oxdrift Volunteer Fire Department and Ministry of Natural Resources Fire (MNRF) extinguished the 0.15 hectare fire that mostly consumed a grass field.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be suspicious in nature. The circumstances surrounding the ignition are under investigation.
There is currently a fire ban in Dryden due to the hot and dry conditions. The fire ban includes brush/grass fires, backyard fire pits and cook stoves that use solid fuels.
