*** UPDATE: Kecia Spade has been recaptured
On May 19, 2018 at approximately 10:30 p.m. staff members at the Buffalo Sage Wellness House, a facility managed by Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA), observed Kecia Spade leaving the property.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Edmonton Police Service and a warrant for her arrest has been issued.
Kecia Spade is 26 years old, measures 160 cm (5’3”) in height and weighs 68 kg (150 lbs). She has a medium complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. She is currently serving a life sentence for Second Degree murder.
Spade entered a guilty plea for stabbing her own cousin to death in 2009 near Pickle Lake, Ontario, in Mishkeegogamang First Nation. Spade was sentenced in 2009, with possibility of parole in 2019.
Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Kecia Spade is asked to contact police.
CSC and NCSA will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.
CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmate.
