(GERALDTON, ON) – During the evening of May 22, 2018, members of the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol. While traveling on Second Avenue SW in Geraldton, they observed a male known to police as Dean Nybohm (48-years-old) carrying a black garbage bag.

Police observed a barrel of a gun pointing out of the garbage bag. Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been stolen from a motor vehicle in the nearby area. Upon arrest, police also located 2 concealed knives on his person.

Subsequently, Dean Nybohm of Geraldton, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Break and Enter a motor vehicle and steal a firearm

The accused remains in custody until his bail phase schedule at the Thunder Bay Court House on May 23, 2018.
