(DRYDEN, ON) – On May 24, 2018 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Dryden members of the Ontario Provincial (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 17, Ilsley Twp (approximately 20 km West of Ignace) for a Highway Traffic Act Offence.
As a result of the vehicle stop, Police seized a total of 27 cases (1350 cartons) of unmarked cigarettes. The value of this seizure is estimated at $67000.00.
Robert BROWN (56 years old) of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco contrary to Section 121.1 of the Criminal Code.
BROWN was released from custody and will appear in court on June 25, 2018 to answer to the charges.
