(NIPIGON, ON) – The Nipigon River Bridge has malfunctioned, again, this time on the east side of the bridge. The ministry of transportation and contractors involved with the construction of the bridge are on site.
Sources have told us that the expansion joint has separated and failed on the east side of the bridge. The expansion joint is what connects the bridge deck to the abutment. The abutment is the portion of the bridge that comes up to the floating deck.
Westbound lanes are currently closed, according to sources.
