THUNDER BAY COURTHOUSE – INSIDE EDITION would like to congratulate HER HONOUR, SUPERIOR COURT JUSTICE TRACEY JAYNE NIECKARZ on her recent appointment as a Justice to the Superior Court in Thunder Bay.
She replaces Madam Justice H.M. Pierce, who elected to become a supernumerary judge effective June 27, 2017.
Tracey received her undergraduate education from Lakehead University, and obtained her Bachelor of Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. She has practiced in Thunder Bay since receiving her call to the bar, and joined Buset & Partners in 2001.
Tracey focused her practice on family law and commercial litigation. In commercial law matters Tracey has successfully negotiated and litigated a wide range of commercial disputes ranging from commercial tenancy matters to bankruptcy issues. In family law matters Tracey has more than 15 years experience in providing sound legal advice and practical support to clients experiencing the difficult issues associated with separation and divorce. Tracey also provided proactive advice to clients considering pre-marital agreements and cohabitation agreements. She is a trained mediator, having mediated family law, employment law and estate disputes. Tracey is a practitioner of collaborative family law, firmly believing in this approach as a constructive and cost-effective way to resolve legal disputes.
Tracey is actively involved in her profession and her community. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Thunder Bay Law Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Thunder Bay Collaborative Family Law Group. Tracey is an elected representative to the Council of the Ontario Bar Association, in which she has been active on the continuing legal education, membership and awards committees. Tracey has also served as a member of the executive of the Family Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association, and participated in a provincial committee struck to make submissions to the Attorney General of Ontario on family law reform. In her community Tracey has been active politically, sat on various Boards, and volunteered for many local organizations. Currently, Tracey is a proud supporter and advocate for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
