(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The East End pedestrian underpass will be closed from May 28th to June 25th for repairs. Big boards have been put up with construction signs on each end of the tunnel.
Pedestrians are asked to take the detour over the Pacific Ave bridge until the construction is finished. The construction taking place is allegedly structural, painting, and lighting repairs.
A real concerned citizen says “I was on my way home from work early today and I go through the tunnel every morning and every evening usually a few times. When I came back through to come home they had workers putting up steel doors that are gonna be locked up for the next month or two. Hundreds of people use that tunnel daily many that are elderly or handicapped or even small kids and mothers with carriages. Now they are forced to walk 20 minutes outta their way and have to climb up and over the east end bridge that lots of people are unable to make over or are scared of the height as well the traffic.”
How will this closure and detour affect your day to day travels?
