(THUNDER BAY, ONT) – Appearing for sentencing today was 28-year-old Clinton Netemegesic, Her Honour Chantal Brochu and the Crown are present, along with defence lawyer Gil Labine.
Netemegesic was found guilty of manslaughter stemming from an incident at an infamous 288 Windsor Street housing complex. In July 2016, a fight erupted and the victim succumbed to their injuries.
Netemegesic was sentenced to 10 years in custody, but he has been given 3 years and 180 days enhanced credit for his pre-sentence custody, which will be taken off the 10-year sentence, leaving him with 6 years, 6 months and 5 days.
A DNA order and a lifetime weapons ban are handed down, along with a probationary period.
His Co-accused, 21-year-old Cecil Matinet was sentenced to time served plus a day, which was 2 years and 56 days. He is handed a 3-year probation order and a 10-year weapons ban.
The victim was an 18-year-old male who died during the fight in July 2016 at the 288 Windsor Street address. TRCCTB.COM policy is to not name victims without family permission.
