BREAK & ENTER SUSPECT FACES NUMEROUS CHARGES

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On the 25th of May 2018, at approximately 8:35 AM, members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a call of a break and enter to a local business and residence in Fort Frances.

An investigation was commenced by members of the Fort Frances OPP and the Community Street Crime Unit. Officers confirmed that a break and enter had taken place, a quantity of property in excess of $5000, and a vehicle had been stolen from the business and residence.

The vehicle was recovered a short time later. Some of the property has been recovered by the OPP, however a portion of it is still outstanding. The investigation is ongoing.

As a result, of the police investigation, 45-year-old Melinda GRUMM of Fort Frances has been charged with numerous criminal offences including the following:

  1. Theft over $5000 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code,
  2. Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code,
  3. Theft over $5000 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code,
  4. Theft over $5000 contrary to section 334(a) of the Criminal Code,
  5. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is currently in custody, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on June 18,2018 in answer to the charges.
