(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On August 6, 2018, at approximately 11:06 AM, two members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Portage Avenue when they observed two individuals involved in a verbal exchange near a business.
Officers approached the two parties to investigate the matter and as a result, one of them was arrested.
Dennis MORRISON, 30 years of age, of Couchiching First Nation Territory, has been charged with the following criminal offences:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
- Four counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3), of the Criminal Code,
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code,
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is being held in custody pending a Bail Hearing on August 9, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances.
