HUGE POLICE PRESENCE: KAKABEKA MANHUNT

(KAKABEKA, ON) โ€“ A huge police presence has been felt by many citizens just west of the city. Police say they are searching for an armed man. Sources indicate the male is in medical distress.

Ontario Provincial Police and Thunder Bay Police Service have a very strong presence in the area.

We noticed roughly 10 marked and unmarked vehicles, patrolling and parked along the highway.

*** UPDATE: 9:50 pm Police still have a huge presence in the area. They are reported to be all over, patrolling and even have a helicopter in the sky.

*** UPDATE: 10:19 pm We have been notified that the intense police presence is also all over ย Oโ€™Connor Township now as well.

*** UPDATE: 12:01 am Thunder Bay Police Service Media Release As follows:

The public is being advised to be on the lookout for a male in need of assistance and believed to be armed in the area of Harstone Drive, Kakabeka Falls between Stanley and Smith Road.

He is described as a caucasian male, fair complexion, bald, 5โ€™10โ€, 180 lbs wearing jeans and believed to be carrying a backpack.

Local residents are being advised to lock their doors and report the male if observed.

Thunder Bay Police and OPP are attempting to locate the individual. It is suspected he is driving a Suzuki motorcycle with a red gas tank, black in colour and plated 8275T Ontario.

If anyone sees the male or motorcycle in the area please contact police immediately.

  1. Saturday night around 1:00 am ish two shots heard from the East sounded across the street about 7-10 minutes apart from my deck. Last time heard like this back forty neighbour killed his wife in her wheelchair then himself.. gee I hope not again!

    1. I hope not either. In my eyes it couldn’t be possible anyway. Unless, you had a “Pet Cemetery” out your way.

  2. Passed about 10 cop cars stopped on hwy 588 today, a few flashing their lights. Some cops had full combat gear on..
