FEMALE CHARGED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING AND TAKE MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT

(ATIKOKAN , ON) – On August 4, 2018, at approximately 2:48 PM, a member of the Atikokan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on O’Brien Street, in Atikokan.

The officer had a conversation with the driver and this led him to believe that she had been consuming alcohol.

As a result, she was arrested and transported to the Atikokan OPP detachment, where she underwent further tests. Subsequent investigation revealed that other charges were warranted.

As a result of the investigation, Tammie HAINEY, 58 years of age, of Atikokan, has been charged with the following offences:

  1. Driving While Ability Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
  2. Driving with more than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code,
  3. Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent to contrary to section 335(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and has a scheduled court date on October 3, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Atikokan.
