(VERMILLION BAY, ON) – A serious incident is currently unfolding between Kenora and Dryden, which is west of Thunder Bay.
A transport trailer has burst into flames along Highwsy 17 Bear the turn off for Red Lake. Onlookers tell TRCCTB that the fire has engulfed the trailer, is burning viciously, and the tires are exploding in the inferno.
The flames started around 3:15 pm local time today, which prompted a rapid response from the Machin Fire Department.
A witness on scene told TRCCTB in an interview that the transport driver said the trailer contains different juices, such as apple, orange, etc.
Due to there being no fire hydrants within reach, the pumper trucks are having to leave after they expel their water tanks, in order to reload and return to battling the blaze.
Speculation from on the scene indicates that the brakes of the trailer may have locked up, causing them to heat up and burst into flames. Once the tires caught fire, then the fire rapidly spread up into the trailer.
The locals on scene would like to give a HUGE shoutout to the Machin Fire Department for their rapid response, and continued hard work battling the blaze.
The fire appeared to be under control shortly after 4:00 pm local time.
