AGGRESSIVE BEAR INCIDENT

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Officers were dispatched at 4:25 p.m. on August 20, 2018 to the area of Hull Avenue on a report of a large bear in the area.

Officers were unable to locate the bear when they arrived on scene.

Multiple calls were received just before 5:00 p.m. of a bear in the Cox Crescent and Crescent Avenue area.

The bear was finally located by officers up a tree near the bike path off Hinton Avenue and Blanchard Street.

Officers determined the bear to be aggressive and contact the MNR for assistance.

The MNR conservation officers arrived around 6:30 p.m. and sedated the bear for transportation and relocation outside the city limits.
