Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Maslach is presiding, along with Crown Attorney Andrew Sadler, and duty counsel lawyer Aranka Golphy.

Collington was arrested on the strength of a warrant for an incident that unfolded on July 26, 2018, where it is alleged he assaulted a woman, stole some cash, threw out some death threats, and broke her glasses.

Collington is facing charges of:

  • Assault
  • Robbery
  • Utter threats to cause death
  • Mischief under $5000

The Crown has strong concerns on the primary and secondary grounds regarding Collington’s release. Primary ground concerns tell us that the crown believes theΒ likelihoodΒ of Collington showing up for court, if he were released, is slim. Secondary grounds indicates that the crown believes the likelihoodΒ of Collington to re-offend, or become a public safety concern is substantial.

Furthermore, the Crown indicates to the court that Collington is connected to southern Ontario gangs, and also has a lengthy history of violence and drug-relatedΒ charges on his criminal record.

The Crown is not consenting to Collington’s release and adds that he has numerous warrants for his arrest in Southern Ontario.

Collington indicates that Chris Watkins is his lawyer.

Duty Council suggests a remand by video to Wednesday, September 5th by video from the Thunder Bay District Jail, Her Worship grants the request and Collington is sent back to his cell to await transport to the District Jail.
