  1. I came through at 1:55PM, cars were still being diverted through Boundary Drive and 608.

I cant understand why they need to close the highway completely for this. Im getting a little tired of the OPP shutting down highways for hours on end for accidents and now events like this. Now its true, I do not know the severity of this issue and would like to put my faith in the OPP as knowing whats best to do but again, after seeing them shut down the trans Canada highway in the past for all sorts of things Im in doubt of their decisions.

heck I even encountered a RIDE program on highway 17 near White River on a Sunday afternoon. To stop cross Canada traffic like that is going too far in my opinion.

Did today’s events on 61 warrant a complete closure of the road for at least 6 hours?

    1. The police will be updating us on the details of the case. but it sounds serious if forensics had to be deployed. A ride program in white river on a Sunday afternoon just helps to keep people safe. Ride programs don’t shut the road down, it just a quick sniff for alcohol and you are on your way. The police work hard to keep us safe if it’s closed down for over 6 hours, there’s a good reason
