(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On September 20, 2018, at approximately 6:11 pm, two members of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Portage Avenue, in response to a traffic complaint.

Officers spoke with the driver, and commenced an investigation.

As a result, Ryan BELL, 26 years of age, of Fort Frances was charged with:

  1. Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code,
  2. Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Bell was recently arrested for the following offences:

  1. Driving while Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario,
  2. Three counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code,
  3. Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code,
  4. Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule I) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
  5. Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule II) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
  6. Two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule I) contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 29, 2018 in answer to the charges.

Further, Marylou COPENACE, 28 years of age, of Big Grassy First Nation Territory was arrested on warrants for the following Criminal Code offences:

  1. Failing to Attend Court contrary to section 145(5)(b),
  2. Three counts of Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1),
  3. Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b).

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of November 5, 2018 in answer to the charges.

    As the saying goes though, they give you just enough rope to hang your self with.

  3. Why are they not kept in custody when she has already missed a court date and obviously they have not learned their lesson,give them 5 years in the pen.

    1. She only has shop lifting charges. 5 yrs for that? Also the guy is not her friend. Maybe on Facebook but she is not his friend. I don’t care what you do to him but the female, no 5 yrs for her.

    Word in Devlin is he has some sticky fingers and loves to hunt at night.

    He’s been a real prize since his highschool days, guess not much has changed.

    Glad he finally got what was coming to him. Maybe Karma does exist?
