(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Appearing in bail court 104 this morning from the Thunder Bay Police Service Station via video is 31-year-old Gavin Paul Laduke.
His Worship, Justice of the Peace Bruce Leaman is presiding along with Robert Kozak as Crown Attorney and Leon Nicol as defence lawyer.
Laduke is alleged to have robbed a Mac’s corner store while armed with a knife while wearing a disguise.
It is alleged that at approximately 10:40 p.m. Leaduke entered the store with his face covered and holding a knife while demanding money and cigarettes. He left the store with cash and smokes.
Laduke is facing the following charges:
- Breach of probation
- Disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense
The Crown is not consenting to his release, and indicates there are some secondary ground concerns. The secondary ground tells us that the Crown believes the accused may reoffend or become a public safety issue.
Defence lawyer Leon Nicol requests a remand until tomorrow to prepare for the matter.
His Worship, Justice of the Peace orders Laduke remanded into custody, and to appear tomorrow by video from the Thunder Bay District Jail.
LaDuke is escorted back to his jail cell, where he will await prisoner transport to the Thunder Bay District Jail, where he will spend the night to await his video appearance tomorrow.
Sources have indicated that Gavin is related to alleged Mac’s robber Dustin LaDuke.
