(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The four suspects who are alleged to have broken into a home south of the city yesterday were scheduled to appear in court for a bail appearance.
The four males do not speak English, and require a Romanian interpreter. As this was the case, court could not proceed in a meaningful way, and they are being held until tomorrow so a interpreter could be present.
The four men are:
- Miclescu Maldini
- Ionut Zatreanu
- Netinav Vaduva
- Giovanni-Maldini Fierara
They all share the same list of charges, they have been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of stolen property
- Resist/obstruct police
- Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offense (theft)
They has stolen passports and a box of jewellery on them. They will most likely be remanded into custody this morning, due to the crown citing they are a flight risk.
Police media video and written release below:
A quick response by a citizen who called 911 to report break and enter was in progress at a neighbours residence in the 1900 block of John Street Road around 12:10 p.m. resulted in the eventual arrest of four males.
A white minivan with Quebec plates was reported leaving the area and heading into the city. Plain clothed officers with the Community Services Branch observed the van on Highway 61 and began to follow it as it continued eastbound on Arthur Street.
The van pulled into the parking lot of Galaxy Lanes. Moments later multiple uniformed patrol officers arrived and the occupants of the van fled.
Officers pursued the suspects and all were taken into custody in the area.
The four Toronto area males have been escorted to the Balmoral Police Station and have been charged with Break & Enter and Possession of Stolen Property and Resist Arrest.
They will appear in court tomorrow.
This investigation is ongoing.
