His Worship, Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio was presiding, along with Crown Attorney Sarah Munch, and duty counsel lawyer Lianne Roberge.
Allegations are that DePerry seriously injured a male, endangering their life. Sources have indicated that this was a drug deal gone wrong, as the victim is said to be a dealer of various drugs.
DePerry is facing the following charge:
- Aggravated Assault
The Crown indicates that they intend to show the court why DePerry should not be released and notes that the onus is on the Crown to do so. Court hears that the Crown has “strong secondary concerns” regarding DePerry, which means the Crown believes that the likelihood of DePerry to re-offend or becomes a public safety issues is high.
It is alleged that DePerry has been involved in drugs and gangs consistently for years, sources tell us.
The Crown requests a no-contact order with 2 people, while DePerry is in custody. Duty counsel then requests the matter be remanded to Monday.
Justice of the Peace Donio grants both requests by ordering DePerry not contact or communicate with the two individuals while in custody, he also schedules his next court date for Monday, and orders DePerry to appear at that date by video.
DePerry is escorted back to his jail cell, where he will await prisoner transport to the Thunder Bay District Jail.
