(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A Thunder Bay man has been arrested on drunk driving related charges and appeared in bail court this morning to face the charges.
Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchekeesic was presiding, along with Gordon Fillmore as the Crown Attorney, Andrew Desmoulin and Arturo Acosta as duty counsel lawyers.
Brett Everett Carlson was arrested on the strength of a warrant, and is facing the following charges which are drunk driving related:
- Operate a motor vehicle over 80mg of alcohol
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
The Crown is not consenting to Carlson’s release, and intends to show cause as to why he should be detained in custody.
Carlson seems desperate to speak with a lawyer, and duty counsel has a private discussion with him. After a few moments, duty counsel returns to the room and requests the matter be remanded until tomorrow.
Justice of the Peace Kitchekeesic grants the request, and orders Carlson to be held in custody in the meantime.
Carlson is escorted back to his cell, where he will await prisoner transport to the Thunder Bay District Jail.
