(LAKE SUPERIOR NORTH SHORE, ON) – A special weather statement is in effect for multiple areas across the region this evening, and lasting into the morning hours.
Snowfall is expected, with some areas seeing more than 10cm pile up. Please wake up early enough to have time to wipe down your car and drive safely to your destination(s), at possibly a reduced speed.
Below is the special weather statement issued by Environment Canada at 7:50 pm this Sunday evening.
Special weather statement in effect for:
- City of Thunder Bay
- Cloud Bay – Dorion
- Kakabeka Falls – Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake
- Marathon – Schreiber
- Nipigon – Rossport
Areas of heavy snow and poor travel conditions are likely tonight.
Rain has been transitioning to snow for areas close to Lake Superior this evening. The snow may fall heavily at times for much of the night, particularly for areas inland from Lake Superior.
Some areas may see in excess of 10 cm of snow tonight. Travel conditions are expected to be very poor at times.
Snow is expected to change to rain later tonight or Monday morning as warmer air moves in.
