(THUNDER BAY, ON) โ€“ย Picton Avenue has a tremendous reputation in town for having drug traffickers, violent criminals, overdoses, and an assortment of criminal elements taking up residences up on the street.

Today is no different, as the Thunder Bay Police Service has had a presence at a Picton Ave home since this around 1:00 pm this afternoon a resident in the area tells us.

The exact reason the police are camped out isnโ€™t being shared with the public yet, and all residents have told us is the police said its โ€œan active crime sceneโ€.

(UPDATE) We have been told my residents in the area they believe a vicious assault has taken place and that the victim is struggling for their life.

Police are still holding the scene as of this morning.

(UPDATE) Police issue media release.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to reports of an assault just after 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5 in the 200 block of Picton Avenue.

Police located an unconscious injured male inside a residence. The male was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.

Investigators located and arrested a suspect at the scene.

Mark Colin ATATISE, 27, of Thunder Bay has been charged with Aggravated Assault. He appeared in court this morning and was remanded into custody for a future court date.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is the smaller part of Picton, that ends at the dead end with the park. There are currently two police cruisers there, one marked and one unmarked.
