(HEARST, ON) – On November 6, 2018 at approximately 1:50 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a potential threat in the Town of Hearst, Ontario.

Hearst is located east of Thunder Bay, down Highway 11.


Shortly after, police recommended that all schools in the area commence a hold and secure procedure due to an ongoing situation outside of the school.


At approximately 3:45 p.m. the hold and secure was lifted.

Timmins’ O’Gorman High School was also under a “lockdown” procedure today, in which police state that a threat was made to the school over social media.

Two Timmins youth were arrested regarding that situation. There are no further safety concerns in either town regarding the schools.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
