Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Maslach is presiding along with Crown Attorney Mason, and duty counsel lawyer Aranka Golphy.

Jorgenson is being charged after an October 8th, 2018 incident where it is alleged he robbed someone of a sum of money while armed with a knife.

His lone charged is:

  • Robbery

The Crown states that although this is a Crown-onus situation, they still have concerns on the primary and secondary grounds. She further explains that Jorgenson has prior convictions for failing to appear in court.

Crown-onus means that it is on the Crown to show why the accused should be detained. Primary ground concerns tell us the Crown believes it is unlikely that the accused will show up to court. Secondary grounds indicate that the Crown believes the likelihood of the accused to either re-offend, become a public safety concern or interfere with the administration of justice to be substantial.

The Crown is not consenting to Jorgensonโ€™s release at this time.

Duty counsel lawyer Golphy requests for the matter to be remanded until Monday, November 19th. Furthermore, she states that she will email Jorgensonโ€™s lawyer of choice to inform them of his upcoming appearance.

Jorgenson is ordered by Justice of the Peace Maslach to remain in jail until at least tomorrow, where he may have another shot at getting released.

The accused is sent back to his jail cell at the police station where he will wait to be transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail.

    1. So what do we do? Who needs an outcry from the decent citizens of Thunder Bay that we need a jail to keep all these violent criminals and drug dealers off our streets. Is this seriously why they are out on bail the next day? Iโ€™ve seen you post this before that we need another jail do you have answers. Who do we talk to?

  1. Not sure why the charge is only robbery and not armed robbery. With the latter, this dim wit could get his wish of really living the gangster life.

    1. i guess it’s time we arm up its legal to carry all types of weapons as tools such as shock batons and retractile batons as well as knives under i believe 6″ as well a long gun properly stored in a vehicle can be used keeping in mined you will be held responsible for you actions if you make a mistake of some kind but you have a better chance in court talking to a judge then a criminal and keep in mind no punishment under the law includes physical harm. I am not suggesting taking the law in to your own hands but properly education on your rights and self defense privileges and making the best use of what is offed to us under the law to protect you and your love ones keeping in mind that arguing a case where you harm a person over property we be a near impossible one.
