(BIG TROUT, ON) – Allegations are that a 29-year-old man was at a home with a number of other people when a disgusting act took place.
The mother of the small child and some other people had gone to sleep. when the accused had allegedly sexually assaulted the child.
The child is under 8-year-old.
29-year-old Charlie Roundsky appeared in a Thunder Bay bail court this morning, via telephone from the Big Trout OPP detachment. Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Zelda Kitchekeesic was presiding along with Crown Attorney VanKessel and duty counsel lawyer Andrew Desmoulin.
Roundsky is charged with the following two charges, stemming from an incident that occurred this fall.
- Sexual assault
- Touching for a sexual purpose a child under the age of 16
The Crown states that this is a “Crown-onus” situation, which means the Crown will have to show the court why Roundsky should be detained.
There are secondary ground concerns that the Crown has regarding Roundsky’s release. This means the Crown believes he is likely to re-offend, become a public safety concern, interfere with the administration of justice, or any combination of the three.
The Crown requests a “no-contact” order be placed on Roundsky which will prohibit him from contacting or communicating with the child-victim, or the 3 other people named as being in the home at that time.
Duty counsel requests that the matter be remanded until tomorrow, Monday, November 26th in a Sioux Lookout bail court.
The Justice of the Peace grants both requests from both The Crown and duty counsel. Roundsky is ordered to remain in jail until at least his appearance in court tomorrow, where he will have another swing at getting released.
