Police take at least 1 into custody on Memorial

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Thunder Bay Police Service have taken at least one person into custody after a traffic stop on Memorial.

Witnesses in the area say they saw the Emergency Task Unit (ETU) officers along with plain clothed officers performing the search and detention of at least 1 suspect.

One person said that they saw police with guns drawn.

We are unsure at this point what the traffic stop was about.

Possibilities are that the person could have an arrest warrant out for them, drinking and driving, the vehicle was stolen, etc.

We will be watching bail court tomorrow to see what turns up of this incident.

*** UPDATE: 1 person has come forward and claimed that the police had mistaken the people in this car for someone else, and all were let go.
