Anonymous Submission #0067 – Spit / Strike Reconciliation

I cannot believe that there is so much hatred in our community.

I cannot believe what this city has come to and it’s so shameful.  No it’s not ok to hit someone, no it’s not ok to spit at anyone either, but you know somewhere deep down this relationship between the officer and the youth needs to be restored and we need to set an example for others.

In order for a community to be healthy, and create reconciliation it means walking in forgiveness. Is there a healing circle that these two individuals can attend and can both sides set an example for others or any other time this happens!

I was brought up to believe to respect one another, to forgive and keep moving forward. In order for our community to move forward it takes one person to say I’m sorry and I forgive you…only then we can all walk towards restoring this relationship.

Are we going to keep walking in circles? Or our we going to do something different? The definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”

When are we going to start practicing and trying something different?

I watched a video recently this lady’s son was murdered by a young male. The mom walked up to this man, hugged him and said I forgive you and his family.

To the youth and officer I do hope this relationship can be healed and restored we do have many places wonderful community organizations in this city that will be here to support you.

  1. I agree with this 100%!!! By reading the comments regarding that whole situation I realize how nasty people are, and how they don’t seem to have common sense. Both parties involved should face the proper ramifications for their actions. Police are trained to de-escalate tense situations, that is their duty. It doesn’t matter race, location or even age, that officer was trained for that situation and that training did not involve physical assault. We know nothing about the girl personally yet everyone starts making assumptions and attacking her online. As for the spitting, Hepatitis C and HIV can NOT be spread via saliva, so I guess the officer is worried about catching a cold or flu????

    1. Angie stole; they are contracted via blood contact. After a smack to the face however there may be blood present in the saliva which would mean the cop put herself at greater risk.

    2. Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes and HIV-infected blood or blood-contaminated body fluids. Deep, open-mouth kissing if both partners have sores or bleeding gums and blood from the HIV-positive partner gets into the bloodstream of the HIV-negative partner. HIV is not spread through saliva.
People can become infected with the hepatitis C virus during such activities as:

Sharing needles, syringes, or other equipment to prepare or inject drugs
Needlestick injuries in health care settings
Being born to a mother who has hepatitis C
Less commonly, a person can also get hepatitis C virus through

Sharing personal care items that may have come in contact with another person’s blood, such as razors or toothbrushes
Having sexual contact with a person infected with the hepatitis C virus
Getting a tattoo or body piercing in an unregulated setting
Hepatitis C virus is not spread by sharing eating utensils, breastfeeding, hugging, kissing, holding hands, coughing, or sneezing. It is also not spread through food or water.

These facts are copy and pasted straight from the CDC (centre of disease control) website

  2. Who says we’re not all trying to end racism and build this community. Don’t categorize “everyone” in your discussion when it’s a few people who ruin it for us all. You make the entire city sound bad with your rant. There’s good and bad everywhere, unfortunately this day and age everyone likes to report the bad over the good… the kid is at fault like I said in a prior posts. She’s lucky it was a cop and not some random stranger she spit on. Imagine if it was a gang member or somebody mentally unstable getting horked on. What if it was an aboriginal cop? I’m sure she would be considered a poor victim still despite her actions and stupidity…

  3. NO THERE CAN NOT BE HEALING AS LONG AS THERE ARE MULTITUDES OF DRUNKEN,STONED,CRIME COMMITING NATIVES RUNNING AROUND THINKING THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT MAKING OUR STREETS UNSAFE

  4. Nice dream……..time to wake up .Again, this is not about racism,it is facts.Until they teach their kids properly and become a minority in crime instead of the majority, there will NEVER be an improvement.I guess this officer has not had enough encounters yet.I guess when a native stabs him or he gets aids from saliva,he can say I forgive you.I know I never could or would.Eye for eye, tooth for a tooth. We are way beyond a simple hug and forgiveness. The minute you turn your back, you get a knife in the back.Sad? Yes…….True? ABSOLUTELY.No sense in wasting time commenting on the issue as it will not be resolved until a heavy hammer falls and yes, that includes white, blacks, purples, pinks, yellows or whatever your skin color you may have.If your bad ,your bad but the majority is the majority.
