
(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – During the early morning hours of December 4, West Nipissing Police Service officers were on general patrol on John Street in Sturgeon Falls. The officers observed a man walking in the area, a short time later the officers observed the same man walking out from behind a building.
The officers questioned the man and located his backpack hidden a short distance away. Upon searching the man and the backpack, police seized a substantial amount of street drugs and money.
Officers seized:
- 16 grams of suspected Purple Down (heroine/fentanyl mixture)
- 13 grams of cocaine
- 17 grams of Crystal Meth
- 1700+ methamphetamine pills (speed)
- 158 grams of marijuana
- Over $2500.00 cash
The street value of the drugs is estimated at approximately $26,000.
42-year-old Jean Claude Philippe of Sturgeon Falls now faces the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance x5
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- breach of Probation.
