(ATIKOKAN, ON) โ€“ It was a busy day in W.A.S.H. court this morning, with numerous people having criminal justice matters land them before the sitting Justice of the Peace, Denette Maslach. This morning a familiar name appeared in court, 39-year-old Sherri Lynn Jolicoeur.

The Crown Attorney working the case today was Derrick Silvestro and a duty counsel lawyer Morris was also present to assist the accused. Jolicoeur was arrested on some high-profile charges about a month ago when the Ontario Provincial Police made arrests regarding a string of break and enters that ravaged a cottage community west of Thunder Bay. More on that later.

Today, Jolicoeur is alleged to have stolen a โ€œpurse-bagโ€ from someone in Atikokan and was arrested. The courts hear that she has 24 existing charges and was held for bail court based on that. Her new charge is:

  • Theft under $5000

The Crown states that this is a โ€œreverse-onus situationโ€, and that he is opposed to Jolicoeurโ€™s release on all three grounds. He is seeking to put Jolicoeur to her onus, meaning she will have to show the court why she should be released. The three grounds of release basically mean the Crown believes it isnโ€™t likely that Jolicoeur will return for court, might re-offend, and the public would be pissed if she were to be released, putting the administration of justice in disrepute.

The Crown states that he would consider her release if a suitable surety were to be examined. Duty counsel requests the matter come back to court on Monday in Fort Frances, where Jolicoeur will have another shot at being released.

St. Pierreโ€™s release is being denied by the Crown today.

It is also brought to light that St. Pierre has outstanding warrants in Winnipeg.

The Crown requests that St Pierre not have any contact with 2 people, one being Sherri Jolicoeur, as one of his charges is an assault on her.

Duty counsel requests that St. Pierreโ€™s matter be put into a Fort Frances bail court on Monday at 1:00 pm.

The Crown tells the court that this is a reverse onus situation by the virtue of the previous charges in which she was already released on. Jolicoeurโ€™s release is being opposed by the Crown.

Jolicoeurโ€™sย criminal record is showing numerous property related convictions.

There are secondary ground concerns regarding the release of Jolicoeur states the Crown. She is also requesting a no-contact order with 2 people, 1 being Randy St. Pierre.

Duty counsel requests that the matter be put over to a Fort Frances bail court on Monday, November 19th, 2018.

    1. Loops – no it’s NOT my Buddy.
One thing I’ll point out, you don’t hear her “Chief” blaming anyone for her crimes, do you? It was and is HER alone that did this. Something you can’t wrap your head around.
We don’t need answer or healing for her. She needs jail time for the crimes she committed. No ones fault but hers.

    2. What I think you canโ€™t wrap your head around is that this woman is an adult and she can speak for herself just like every other adult criminal no matter what color. When is the incident with the chief of police the police officer the youth and fiddler going to end? Thatโ€™s my question. Whatโ€™s happening with that?

  1. She was looking to buy a house in my neighborhood South Norah St. this past Thurday Dec. 13th and I told her where the gangs lived. I gave her addresses and gave her mine. I took a chance to spare someone grief. You can choose your house and not your neighbors but I’ve just chose mine.
I can see her moving right it.

  2. Hmmm no comments on race on this? No calling out the Mayors of these places and rediculing them on their leadership and colour of skin? The crowd is quiet when its a white criminal. This is why we have a national eye on us, most off yall cant see yourself for the moron you really are

    1. Whitey, why would the crowd raise an issue when it’s a white person? We’re not blaming the Indians for this like you would if the situation was reversed.

  3. WHITEY……..WE COMMENT ON ALL PIECE OF S**T, LOW LIFES REGARDLESS OF COLOR. IF YOU CANT FOLLOW THE COMPLETE STORY THEN REFRAIN FROM YOUR STUPID COMMENTS……….

    1. Loops -+ what would you call Whitey’s comment?
Oh that’s right, they’re Native so it doesn’t’ work that way.

    2. Whitey made no comment he was native he just called you a moron. Whitey is not the only person who sees the comments on native crimes and the difference when itโ€™s a white person crime. Heโ€™s absolutely right when he says the whole world is watching.

    3. Loops – When someone uses the term, “yall”, It tells me they’re 12 and stop their education short of achieving grade 8.
