Appearing this New Year Tuesday morning, January 1,2019 via video from the Greenstone OPP Station at in Courtroom 104 is 37 year old ELLIOT JOSEPH TOWEGESHIG.

TOWEGESHIG is a large man and has cast on his right arm.

It’s W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today. His Worship, Bruce Leaman is presiding. Provincial Crown Jane Ann McGill is here along with Duty Counsel.

The court hears TOWEGESHIG was arrested last evening after allegedly consuming alcohol on the reserve. He was under conditions not to. He was originally arrested on December 3,2018 for allegedly assaulting a woman with a bottle. He was charged and released. On December 20,2018 he was arrested for allegedly communicating with the victim of his assault was he was ordered not to.

Crown Attorney McGill is not consenting to his release.

TOWEGESHIG is on his way to the Thunder Bay Jail. His next court appearance will be by video from jail.
