(NIPIGON, ON) – “I NEED MY F**KING ADVIL”
Appearing by telephone from the Nipigon OPP station on Friday January 18,2019 is 57 year old DAVID CHARLEBOIS of Penetaguishene, Ontario.
Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbon is presiding and Crown Attorney Katrina Van Kessel is here along Duty Counsel.
CHARLEBOIS was arrested last evening for breach of recognizance after a traffic stop by Nipigon OPP. He’s on a 2500$ no deposit recognizance from Southern Ontario for charges not specified. The court hears he also has a warrant for Alberta.
“I DON’T UNDERSTAND ALL THESE COURT WORDS” he tells the court. Her Worship Gibbon asks if he would like to speak to Duty Counsel. He says he wants to talk to his lawyer named David Wilcox out of Barrie, Ontario.
“I NEED MY FUCKING ADVIL”
”I was pulled out of my truck, I’m being harassed” CHARLEBOIS tells the court.
Her Worship advises CHARLEBOIS of his language rights.
“Yes, I need an interpreter, for the English language” CHARLEBOIS states. He can be heard arguing with officers over the phone line and it’s becoming very difficult for the court reporter to understand. She informs the court that there are too many people talking at once. Justice of the Peace Gibbon is unable to gain control of the situation.
Crown Attorney Van Kessel steps up and in an assertive, commanding tone tells CHARLEBOIS to be quiet. He follows her direction and the situation is much calmer.
CHARLEBOIS is remanded into custody and will be transferred to the Thunder Bay Jail. He will make a video appearance on Monday, January 21 at 1pm by video from the Jail.
