(DRYDEN, ON) – Appearing by telephone this afternoon, Sunday January 20,2019 from the Dryden Police Station is 31 year old MICHELLE ASHLEY WESLEY.
It’s W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court today. Her Worship, Jennifer Neill is presiding. Provincial Crown Tamara Fairchild is here along with Duty Counsel Aranka Golphy.
WESLEY was arrested last evening by Dryden Police for allegations of carrying a weapon (knife) for purpose dangerous to the public.
She’s also accused of assaulting 2 police officers and a police Seargeant with a knife.
Crown Attorney Fairchild is not consenting to the release of WESLEY.
On January 19, 2019 at approximately 8:30 pm, Officers with the Dryden Police Service were called to the Patricia Inn Bar in regards to an unwanted female. The Accused, identified as Michelle Ashley WESLEY -31 years of age of Dryden, ON, had been requested to leave the establishment numerous times by staff, at which time the police were called.
Upon arrival, Police provided WESLEY with numerous opportunities to leave. WESLEY failed to leave when directed and was placed under arrested as per the Trespass to Property Act. Upon escorting the accused out of the bar, WESLEY began to kick at the police. Once on the ground, Police attempted to gain control of WESLEY at which time the accused who had a knife in her hand, swung at one of the officers narrowly missing the officer. Before officers could secure the knife, the accused ultimately was able to strike another officer in the leg with the knife.
The officer sustained a superficial cut and was treated and released from the hospital.
Duty Counsel Golphy seems unable to put any type of plan together for WESLEY, so she will be held in custody and make a bail court appearance later this week.
